As civil society associations, networks and social movements representatives, we are making the choice to commit ourselves to a collective work towards the United Nations Conference on climate “Paris 2015” (COP21).
We share a will to act in order to raise worldwide awareness on global warming and the vital risks it entails. We are pledging for acknowledgement of and action on social justice, environmental transition and international solidarity imperatives. We aim at enabling the creation of a balance of power favourable to fair and ambitious climate action, and to lasting and sustainable transformation of all related public policies.
In the vein of the collective dynamics created by the mass union of social movements and civil society organisations that decided to withdraw from the Warsaw international climate conference (COP19), we are convinced of the necessity to reinforce a citizen and popular movement on these issues between now and the COP21 but also beyond.
In order to strengthen this citizen movement and this balance of power, we commit ourselves, in the framework of this Coalition, to facilitate a wide, diverse and inclusive mobilisation, to mutualize our analyses and initiatives and to articulate our modes of action, both before and during COP21. Through the diversity of our strategies, of our modes of action, and of our focuses, we will make our efforts part of an international dynamics in close interaction with civil societies worldwide.
